Interested in a Tivo meetup?
Maybe someone in your neighbourhood can demo a Tivo to you.
Who Knows. Tivo is great, thats all I can say. As of April 2006 there are 131 registered NZTivo users, so there are definitely some possibilities for the above.

Go to http://www.frappr.com/nztusers and place a pin on the NZT Users Frapper Map. You'll also be able to see if there are any other Tivo users near you - they may even be willing to help, or keen to participate in some kind of meet-up.

Would be keen to have a geek meet over the TiVo :) - ZollyMonsta
I recently imported a Tivo with 80gb drive from Poweron - great service. As I use my network for work I did not want to mess around with that so I download the slice to my computer and use Hyperterm to put it on the Tivo and load it manually over the serial port. This only cost me US$215 for the unit with drive no network card including postage plus $10 to make the serial cable - real cheap and works fine. If anyone wants a description of this setup let me know. :) JECastor
I just finished setting up my Tivo, Ordered from George at www.eksys.com great service ordered on Thursday and recieved on Monday. NZ$411 for Phillips Tivo with a cachecard and shipping. I added a 160gb drive and a 512mb PC133 dim and the setup took about an hour. Works Perfect. Thanks for the how to's they were pretty good. Shane
Left my TIVO behind in the UK when we left to migrate to NZ, I assumed it wouldn't work here due to lack of guide data etc, bad move! Now desperate to get a TIVO back in our lives! TBO, the technical side of the process appears beyond my limited computer skills, is there anyone in or around Auckland that would be prepared to assist in setting one up for me? 9/10/05 Does the UK TiVo really work here (UK uses PAL A, NZ uses PAL B, which is a different frequency shift between audio and video)? Maybe the software changes reprogram the card... Anyway, I left my TiVo with my parents, sadly. Looks like I'll have to buy a US one and modify it - it also seems that I'll need SKY in order to get the signals in. Anyway: does the NZ TiVo group have any social meets?
I'd be interested in knowing the number and general locations of NZTivo users - this might be the first step in thinking about meet-ups etc. It would alo be useful to be able to contact people near us. I've found a page here Special:Listusers that lists all users (131 at the moment), but it would be interesting to know where they are from. Ok - a solution - go to http://www.frappr.com/nztusers and place a pin on the NZT Users Frapper Map. Nosignal 13:57, 3 Apr 2006 (NZST)
I can't find a 'Latest News' page, so I'll leave it here (Nosignal 00:44, 3 Apr 2006 (NZST)):
- As of Nov 2005, the OzTivo Image was updated to Realease 1.5. The start of ImageWithScreenShots1.4 now mentions how to get it.
- If you are a beginner, and don't have LAN networking, the NZTivo pages have been updated to make it easier to get the Modem up and running.
